Chef Garrett Schack will be at the BC Seafood Festival

Chef Garrett Schack started his career at the age of 19 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Today, he’s the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Manager for Victoria’s only rooftop restaurant, Vista 18 Westcoast Grill & Wine Bar.

From the Bay of Fundy to the Strait of Juan de Fuca, seafood has always been at the heart of Chef Garrett Schack’s culinary journey.

Upon moving to Victoria, British Columbia, Garrett completed his professional culinary arts training at Camosun College, after which he left Victoria to spread his wings in South East Asia and Australia, working in local restaurants while travelling. It was during this time that Garrett first discovered his passion for cooking with only fresh, local ingredients.

Garrett joined Vista 18 in September 2007 and was elated to find a venue that continually inspires him in his quest to work with locally sourced ingredients, fostering relationships with Vancouver Island farmers and producers, and celebrating the sustainable food movement.

Chef Garrett also hosts CHEK TV’s Cookin’ on the Coast, where he continues to share his passion for local ingredients.
